Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Aaro Alhainen ("PureNote", "we", "our", or "us") governing your use of the PureNote iOS application and this website (together, the "Service"). By installing, accessing, or using PureNote, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Your privacy is covered by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use PureNote on iOS devices you own or control, for your personal or internal business use.

You may not: reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the application except as permitted by law; rent, lease, sublicense, or resell the application; remove or alter any copyright or attribution notices; or use the Service in a way that violates these Terms or applicable law.

PureNote's AI summarisation and action-item features run entirely on your device using Google's Gemma model. The Gemma model is provided to you as part of the PureNote application under the terms set by Google.

By using PureNote you also agree to the Gemma Terms of Use, which apply in addition to these Terms with respect to your use of the Gemma model and any outputs it generates. The full notices and license texts for Gemma and the LiteRT-LM runtime that executes it are available inside the PureNote app under Settings → About & Licenses.

You agree that you will not use, nor allow others to use, PureNote or any AI output it generates for any purpose prohibited by the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference and is an enforceable provision of this agreement. Without limiting that policy, you specifically agree not to use PureNote or its outputs to:

• perform or facilitate illegal activities, including violations of intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of third parties;
• generate or distribute child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate imagery, or other sexually explicit content for the purpose of pornography;
• generate, promote, or facilitate violence, harassment, bullying, hate speech, self-harm, terrorism, or violent extremism;
• promote or facilitate the production, sale, or use of illegal substances, weapons, or other illegal goods or services;
• generate or distribute misinformation, disinformation, or deceptive content (including impersonation or fraud);
• conduct unauthorised surveillance, identity theft, defamation, or invasion of privacy;
• provide professional advice (medical, legal, financial, or similar) where doing so would require a licence you do not hold; or
• otherwise infringe applicable laws, regulations, or the rights of others.

You are responsible for the content of your recordings, transcripts, and any prompts or other inputs you provide to the AI features, and for the use and distribution of any outputs.

AI summaries and action items are generated automatically by the Gemma model from your transcripts. Outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading. PureNote is provided as a productivity tool, not as a source of factual, professional, or expert advice. You are responsible for reviewing AI outputs before relying on them or sharing them with others.

Google claims no rights in the outputs you generate using Gemma, and PureNote claims no ownership of those outputs either. As between you and PureNote, you retain whatever rights you would otherwise have in your recordings, transcripts, and the AI outputs derived from them.

PureNote offers a free tier and an optional paid "PureNote Pro" subscription, available as a monthly plan or a yearly plan. Subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple's standard subscription terms. Subscription status is verified via RevenueCat, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Free trial. The yearly plan may include a free trial for new subscribers. A free trial is available once per Apple ID; if you have previously subscribed to or trialled PureNote Pro you may not be eligible. The monthly plan does not include a trial. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the yearly subscription price shown in the App Store at the time of purchase is charged when the trial ends.

Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) at the then-current price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in the App Store settings on your device; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period and you keep access until then.

Refunds. Payments are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple under its policies; we cannot issue refunds directly.

You may stop using PureNote at any time and delete your data from within the app. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms — including, in particular, any breach of the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy described in Section 4 — or if required by law.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 4, 5, 8, and 10) will survive.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that AI outputs will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular use.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will PureNote be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising out of your use of the Service. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (for example, consumer protection rights in the EU).

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes we will provide additional notice within the app. Your continued use of PureNote after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence continue to apply.
